Grants

Southern Phone Company Ltd was formed in 2002 after the receipt of funding from the Commonwealth Government’s Networking the Nation (NTN) program. A public company, Southern Phone is owned by 41 Local Councils, each of which has an equal shareholding. In the past 12 years Southern Phone has grown to be the second largest home phone provider in regional Australia and provides fixed line, mobile and Internet services to around 100,000 customers around the nation. The company is based in Moruya (NSW) and employs more than 135 staff.

The Southern Phone Grants Scheme is a new initiative in 2014 to deliver additional support to regional communities. Via the scheme, up to $25,000 has been made available for distribution to qualified recipients within selected Local Council areas.

Southern Phone Grants are designed to provide a direct injection of funds for eligible projects. The objective is to extend Southern Phone’s support to community groups and projects which would otherwise not receive adequate or any funding by Council.

Royalla Common s355 Committee has received $4,000 from Southern Phone Community Grants which will go towards the development of the community hall.

The Riding Arena at the Common is underway!  The major earthworks are complete, with the final surfacing and fencing to be started over the next few weeks.  When finished it will be available for competitions, riding clubs, and for use for all different equestrian styles.  It will be large enough for official dressage or show jumping, maybe even reining or western pleasure.
