At the Working Bee last weekend the volunteers were a hard working group who completed the grass seeding and mulching near the hay shed, removed the formwork from the concrete slab, removed nails from the formwork and stacked timber ready for removal from the site. Thank you to Tony Armstrong of Claw Constructions who, on Sunday, collected the timber that he had lent for the job.

We would like to thank our returning volunteers: Shelley Owen, Terry & Rick Sullivan, Thomise Mudford, Neil Bombardier, Bob Alexander, Mick Cooper as well as committee members Paul Bombardier, Paul Smith, Cathy & Dave Rossiter and Brendan Robinson. Also helping was perhaps Royalla’s newest resident whose home was settled on Friday -  thank you John Chamberlain for joining us.

The hall site looks great and seeding of the grassed areas was completed, with some keen workers staying on till 2:30pm to finish the job.

On Tuesday 9th a day’s earthworks and topsoil spreading were done by Paul Elliot and Dean. You may have noticed that the carpark is now covered with bitumen scalpings that will provide a firm surface in wet weather.

Special thanks for the earthworks on Friday and the machine work on Saturday of spreading, levelling and rolling the surface of the carpark go to 3 gentlemen who volunteer an enormous amount of time on works needed at the Common: “Gadget” Casey, Greg Cochrane and Geoff Paterson.  Your names and businesses will go on the Honour Board in the new Hall.

The bitumen was donated by Boral, Patches & Lindsey Laidley. A truckload each was delivered by Steve Wallace, Paul Elliott, Danny Hodak and Brendan Wright, all of whom we thank for your support.

Recent work photos will soon be on Royalla Common Facebook so please check it out.  If you haven’t been to the Common lately then please go down and walk the site.  The Elm Grove is a haven on a hot day.

Further grass seeding may be needed on bare compacted areas and mowing/whipper snippering/weed spraying will be needed before the Fair.

Future Working Bees are planned for:
•    Sunday 28 February, 8:00am to 11:00
•    Saturday 12 March, 8:00am to 11:00

Mowing request
Please come to the Common anytime to do mowing at a time to suit you.  Phone Paul on 0402 288 143 for the gate key lock box code or we can leave the gate unlocked for you.

The Common is becoming a great community facility and residents’ support is the reason that is happening.  Thank you.

The Royalla Common Development s355 Committee will have a site at the Country Fair on March 20 and we encourage you to come and look at the Site and Hall master plans and share your vision of the Common with us.

Regards,
  Helen
