The Royalla Community Association is organising a petition to the ACT Government asking for improvements to the intersection of the Monaro Highway and the Old Coom Road, Royalla.

This updated intersection is now causing concern to many local residents of Royalla and Little Burra, especially in regard to the southbound left hand turn, which has no slip lane (unlike the turn into Royalla Drive at the Royalla Country Estate entrance, a little further south). A few near misses have been noted where motorists have slowed considerably to turn, causing the traffic behind to overtake using the island lines between lanes towards the oncoming traffic turning right into Old Cooma Road. Local residents are concerned that here may be another major incident at this intersection, as in the recent past.

There is also no merge lane for those turning right from the Old Cooma Road.  The addition of such a lane would enable safer merging for northbound traffic.

We would like to see this intersection properly assesed and changed as requested.
